Who we are
Danby is Canadian company based out of Guelph, Canada with offices and warehousing facilities throughout Canada and the United States. Our Head office is 5070 Whitelaw Rd. Guelph Ontario, Canada N1H6Z9. Our US affiliates are Danby Products Inc. and Intirion d/b/a MicroFridge these entities are referred to as “Danby. What Information do we collect?
Danby has legal and valid reason for processing your Data. We will be processing personal data that you provide to us when you register your product, communicate with us, request assistance in servicing your product or purchasing product directly from Danby. We may also collect and share personal information with approved business partners. If you register, order a product or paid service from us, we may ask for your name, contact information, shipping, billing address and credit card information in order to process your order. We will be retaining all communications from you in relation to the services we have provided. All payment information is processed through a Third Party Payment Gateway.
Personal Data means: relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the data alone or in conjunction with any other data in the data controllers possession or likely to come into possession.
How do we use Personal Information?
Danby is the data controller with respect to processing your data. This means that we decide how your personal data is processed and for what purpose. Danby retains information collected from you for the sole purpose of account set up, providing ongoing services to you through extended warranties, maintenance of your product or through the sale and servicing of goods. The sharing of your personal data only occurs with our approved business partners in managing those services. Here are some ways we use your personal data when providing goods and services:
- To register your product in order to provide warranty services.
- To contact you regarding warranty expiration, or offer extended warranties
- To detect and investigate data breaches.
- To provide a Service or feature you request; to provide maintenance services for your device.
- To conduct free prize drawings, prize competitions or promotions only when consent is provided.
- Referring technicians to your home to service your product.
- Manufacturer Rebates.
- For direct and electronic mail upon your authorization.
- Internal record keeping and back office support.
We may transfer or receive personal information regarding your warranty to recipients in other countries other than the country in which the information originally was collected if this is required for the fulfilment of services. These countries may have different data protection standards than in your country of residence. We will endeavor to provide for the secure transfer of this information by using security encryption methods.

When do we share Personal Data in order to optimize your Danby experience?
our personal data will be treated as confidential. We will only share your personal data for operational purposes and will be shared only with the categories of data recipients listed below:
Service Providers: We may disclose your information to companies that provide services for or on our behalf, such as service technicians, warranty providers, and transport carriers.
Approved business partners: Who may sell you your product, deliver your product, who are providing extended warranty on products purchased.

Public Posts: Your interactions on any public social media platform is governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
Business Transfer: We may disclose Personal Information or Other Information in connection with a reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets, or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
Where do we store and process personal data?
Danby maintains the appropriate levels of security on behalf of its consumers in order to comply with international data processing policies. All data controlled by Danby is stored in North American servers.
How do we secure personal data?
We have put in place reasonable physical and technical measures to safeguard the information we collect in connection with the Services we provide. However, please note that although we take steps to protect your information, no website, Internet transmission, computer system or wireless connection is completely secure.
As a globally operating company, we must be able to transmit your data to other countries within our group for reasons set forth above. We will be transferring your personal data to countries and jurisdictions which are not members of the European Union. In making those data transfers we make sure to protect your personal data by applying the level of security required by European Union legislation, Canadian legislation and American legislation. We have enhanced security features to manage the transfer of data and have contractual security obligations with our approved business partners.
How long do we keep your personal data for?
We will keep your personal data for no longer than reasonably necessary for the given purpose for which your data is processed. Notwithstanding the above, we may retain your personal data as required by the laws and regulation of the country of origin. We will delete and dispose of your data in a secure manner according to our data protection policy.
Your Rights in relation to your personal data.
We respect your rights to access and control your personal data. At any time you may inform us that you wish to remove your personal information from our databases. If it is collected by one of our business partners you will need to contact those providers directly as well. You may contact us at privacy@danby.com .
You have the right to review or request changes to your Personal Information from our websites. If at any time we are unable to remove the information, we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.
You are not required to complete the product registration form and information obtained may be removed at any time. However, we wish to advise you that without the completion of the product registration form in full, we may not be able to provide the requested services or information on extended warranties, or you can choose not to provide us with certain types of information but doing so may affect your ability to use some Services.
Linking to other websites and Third Party Software Applications.
Danby Products may contain software applications that have their own websites and services that are beyond our control. Any links provided on Danby’s website are trusted websites such as Google Play and the Apple App Store. The applications downloaded may be directly developed by Danby or by third-party vendors to which have been thoroughly vetted and contain their own privacy statements to which you will need to consent. We are not responsible for the security or privacy of any information collected by websites or other services. You should exercise caution, and review the privacy statements applicable to the third-party websites and services you use.
Consent to the international transfer of data
By using or participating in any Service and or providing us with your information, you consent to the collection, transfer, storage and processing of your information outside of your country of residence, consistent with this Privacy Policy. Please note that the data protection and other laws of countries to which your information may be transferred might not be as comprehensive as those in your country.
About our Parcel Guard Application
While you use the application without setting up an account, no personal data will be collected. When setting up an account that may include multiple users we will collect the following personal information:
- Your first and last name, user email, ID, password and phone number.
- Device information such as your hardware model, other unique device identifiers, MAC address, IP address, regional and language and settings of the device you use to access the services.
In addition to the information you provide, we may collect information about your use of our Services through software on your device and other means. For example, we may collect:
- Usage and setting information in order to monitor when you are logged in or out of our system to ensure you are provided with a maximum consumer experience.
- To verify your identity as an authorized user concerning any accounts, and to implement, carry out and maintain security measures.
- Location information such as your device’s GPS signal or information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers that may be transmitted to us when you use certain Services.
If you have enable the recording features of Parcel Guard, we will be retaining the recordings for a period of 30 days.
Danby makes reasonable attempts to securely store your data through North American Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure. All data is controlled by a symmetric encryption key. Keys are stored in a secure location with identity-based access control and audit policies. We are enforcing password complexity and expiration for your safety.
Danby’s Parcel Guard app allows you to provide a single-use access code to third parties. Danby bears no responsibility for unauthorized access or possible theft. Please ensure that this information is provided to trusted third party sources. Should you wish to delete the data stored on your product you must complete a factory reset on the product and delete the application on your smart device.
